COURSE
BINDERS IN IRON ORE PELLETIZATION
08:00 - 6:00pm - Gonçalves Dias room

Presented by:
Dr. Surendra Komar Kawatra

Director, Advanced Sustainable Iron and Steelmaking Center (ASISC) Michigan Technological University, Houghton, MI 49931.
Dr. Kawatra has been conducting for the iron and steel industry for the last 20 years, working closely with the iron mines in the Lake Superior district. He has carried out extensive studies of pelletization binders and how they affect pellet quality.

Coordination: Magid Wahib Saab (Vale)

OBJECTIVE

The main objective of this report is to provide an in-depth review of the options for agglomerating iron ore concentrates.  The factors that affect the performance of bentonite binders will be examined, and conventional bentonite binder will be compared and contrasted with alternative organic, inorganic, and cold-bonding binders.

TARGET PUBLIC
Engineering, process, and operating personnel interested in and/or active in iron ore concentration and ironmaking, especially those involved with the pelletization process or concerned with specifying pellet quality.

DIDATIC MATERIAL
Slide presentation and discussion.
