Scope: The good balance of payments of the country is sustained basically by the commodities export increase from the main exporting companies in Brazil. Production costs have increased mainly due to the increase of raw material prices and the valorization of Brazilian currency. The continuity of this global concurrence scenario depends on the capacity of response of those companies, searching for sustained productivity improvement and production plans revenues. In this scenario, Maintenance as a strategic function within the production process, can contribute remarkably to improve operational availability and to reduce variation within production processes. This conference aims to discuss Maintenance Management, through the presentation of technical papers, practical cases, discussion forums and lectures about the following topics:

ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT

Scope: In environmental management companies seek to reduce or eliminate the impact of their industrial operations on the environment, aligning them with environmental legislation at a federal, state and municipal level, depending on the scope of the business. The growing importance of this issue has led ABM to receive a significant number of technical works linked to environmental preservation, from companies, universities and research centers. The areas of interest have concentrated on treatment of industrial waste, controlling atmospheric pollution, noise control, recycling, recovery and destination of solid waste, re use of industrial water, decontamination of contaminated ground, management of dangerous waste and radiation control. Special attention is also warranted for the production of renewable energy resources and no use in the metals sector, as this is a Brazilian vocation, in addition to the growing scarcity of nonrenewable energy resources worldwide such as coal and oil.
SYSTEMIC MANAGEMENT

Scope: The meeting about systemic management is in line with the evolution of concepts related to Quality, involving integrated management systems, leadership systems, competence-based management, experience with teamwork and continuous improvement, performance indicators, knowledge management, technological innovation, human resources management, social accountability, corporate leadership, Six Sigma and TPM - Total Productive Management. It is a forum about excellence, aiming the exchange of experience among leaders and professionals accountable for managing their organizations, consultants, auditors, people from academic area, and technicians working in companies from several areas, which somehow work for improving life, processes, products and services quality.
