RIO DE JANEIRO
Rio de Janeiro is a city renowned throughout the world featuring an exuberant natural beauty with a perfect harmony between sea and mountain.
One of the most important cites for the economic and cultural development in South America, Rio de Janeiro is located in the heart of the southeast region, which is responsible for 60% of the Brazilian GDP.
The city is a cosmopolitan metropolis and provides its dwellers and visitors with a pleasant, harmonious environment for leisure and work, which combined with its infrastructure, makes Rio de Janeiro a major commerce and service center also backed by a modern, wide-ranging industry. Built in a 487 square mile area and with 6,136,656 dwellers, according to IBGE, Rio de Janeiro has as one of its greatest virtues the sympathetic treatment and hospitality towards its visitors.
More than 2 million foreign tourists visit Rio de Janeiro every year, making it the most visited city in the country, according to EMBRATUR. This number corresponds to approximately 33% of all foreign tourists. Over 5 million Brazilian tourists visit the city every year.
Rio de Janeiro is also a known convergence point of the Brazilian cultural life. Here one can find many artists working in a wide range of media: writing, science, research, fine arts, music, architecture, urbanism, botany, environmental research, etc. Some of the most important political and literary press agencies have their headquarters in the city. All this makes Rio de Janeiro an important center for the communications industry.
It is easy to understand why the Carioca is always smiling. This is because he lives in a city where the harmony between mountain, sea and sky is perfect. The city offers plenty of leisure options to be enjoyed from dawn to dawn.
