Summary of the spoken topic |
|
In our presentation, we wil at first approach general aspects concerning several corrosion processes in structures, from steel to carbon, which work in direct contact with soil, such as dug ducts and fuel storage tanks. Then, we will approach diferent deterioration mechanisms, such as determinative elements of its incidence on each case. Protection, inspection and maintenance techniques will be showed and discussed, emphasizing deterioration mechanisms associated to corrosion. The need of integrating information generated from different inspection and maintenance techniques for definition of integrity evaluation programs will be discussed. It will be presented a methodology to reach such objective. Finally, we intend to show examples of application for the trying of monitoring and predict duct cracks incidence.
